This guy is lonely. NOBODY likes Wraithlords, except the Eldar player who owns a few. I mostly field him with a Star Cannon and will only give him a Bright Lance against very vehicle-heavy armies. Aaron almost always plays them with Missle Launchers. Our Ruale friends have a pair of these monsters that the Ulthwe borrow for many battles.
Any Eldar player that doesn't put at least one of these on the field is insane, playing two or three will start your adversary grinding his teeth.
Strength 10 in Close Combat, Toughness 8 with 3 wounds, and he won't strike last like the low-initiative Carnifex or the Power-Fisted Dreadnought. Nowhere else in Warhammer 40k can you spend 120 points (to field one with a StarCannon) and get this much Power. Unfortunately, most Warhammer 40k players are aware of this and adjust their army to be prepared for them. |

Playing the Iyanden (Ruale) rules, a Wraithlord is a troop choice that must be at least matched by Wraithguard squads, so three of them is the maximum- 3 Wraithlord and 3 Wraithguard squads for a total of 6 troop choices. All other Eldar craftworlds can play up to three of them as Heavy Support choices.
To make a good thing any better- these monsters get a cover save if the cover is up to their knees!
