These are the guys with a need for speed. The adrenalin junkies, the thrill seekers. Criticized by the Seer Council because of the substantial cost of replacing the jetbikes they are constantly wrapping around trees and such, they are still prized for their effectiveness in certain battle conditions.
Guardian Jetbikes are relatively expensive, but they can be effective in any scenario were speed is required (rescue) and just plain devastating against enemies with a 5+ or 6+ save. Use either 6 or 9 jetbikes total to take full advantage of the 'every third bike can have a Shuriken Cannon' rule.
Hit and Run attacks with Guardian Jetbikes can be lots of fun.
With your Guardian Jetbike squad up to 24 inches from some normal (6/6) moving infantry, move 12 inches closer, fire everything but the kitchen sink then use their special assault move to recoil back 6 inches out of assault range. Make sure that you watch every turn to see that NOTHING is in range to assault these guys- their close combat skills are pretty dismal.
Wanna really freak out your opponent? Add a Warlock with Conceal. Keep the Wave Serpent / Falcon containing your Seer Council nearby to cast Fortune on your Guardian Jetbikes. Now, no matter WHAT you get hit with, your Warlock will ignore it on a 4+ and the squad will shrug it off on a 5+ึand they'll get 2 chances to roll it! When a Guardian Jetbike DOES fail two saves, you will of course pull the non-shuriken cannoned models first, keeping the bulk of your firepower intact!
I don't have any pictures of these guys yet, because I haven't finished painting them. I'll post pix as soon as they're ready.
