Howling Banshees

Just the mention of the name seems to fill Space Marine Vereran Sergeants with dread. There is something about a band of angry, howling females running at you with Power Weapons that is enough to test the resolve of even the bravest commanders. The Exarch Chiszaan is one of the fiercest close combatants in the game. She strikes first (even against foes in cover!) with an Executioner, a Weapon Skill of 5 and gets 3 attacks when charging. There are only a few foes in the game that I will let her retreat from. (With a few friends nearby, I might even let her go a few rounds with that Archon on the skyboard.)

These ladies are perpetually angry. Think of them as PMS with Power Weapons. An unruly harem with a bad attitude, cruising their corner of the galaxy in a Wave Serpent in search of a fight. Three are married to Kaleel which means that they are fighting even when they're not on the battlefield.

Howling Banshees have a Toughness of 3 and only a 4+ save. This makes them a very tempting target so I never play them without a Wave Serpent.

Never.

The Wave Serpent (usually with Spirit Stones) provides them some much needed protection and also can supply covering fire as they approach to assault. There's nothing like firing a few Star Cannon rounds into the squad you're about to assault to let them know you mean business.
